Montemassi

Montemassi is a charming medieval village situated on the slopes of a hill in south-western town of Roccastrada in the province of Grosseto. The village was born as the family feud that Aldobrandeschi Senesi succeeded in conquering Montemassi defeat in the second half of the thirteenth century, but the beginning of the fourteenth century, the country managed to become an autonomous centre under the control and protection of Pannocchieschi. Subsequently, was again besieged and conquered by Guidoriccio da Fogliano on behalf of Senesi maintained that, but fatigue control for the numerous local revolts occurred in various periods and various interferences of some families of the countryside.
